Performing Art Drama

Drama is highly valued within the curriculum at Claremont. It also plays a vital role in contributing to the community of the school.

Drama is an option at all key stages. In years 7-9 pupils are timetabled for one lesson every fortnight. At Key Stage 4 Drama G.C.S.E (70% A-C) and Performing Arts GNVQ are both popular choices. At Key Stage 5 Theatre Studies A-level is offered alongside the more vocational Performing Arts AVCE. Regular theatre trips and related workshops are a fundamental part of our teaching and learning.

Lower school drama club is held weekly and lunchtime concerts allow pupils the opportunity to perform in front of their peers.

Two school productions are staged over the academic year and smaller seasoned reviews and showcases are regular fixtures on the school calendar.

The annual Creative Stages Festival enables selected pupils to work with professional writers and directors towards an original piece of theatre.

Claremont's affiliation with the Questors Theatre in Ealing gives pupils the exciting experience of performing and assisting backstage in their 500 seat fully equipped theatre space.

Claremont also has strong links with Arts Ed. College. Their highly accomplished staff deliver weekly workshops to our most committed pupils, aiming to enhance their skills and instil a disciplined approach and positive attitude to the performing arts.
