Music Department
The Music Department offers a wide variety of opportunities for pupils at Claremont High School.
Students in years 7-9 will study the Key Stage 3 Music Curriculum through performing, composing and listening tasks. Work is practically based using both acoustic instruments and music technology. Students study many topics including African Music, Film Music, Ground Bass, Reggae and Haunted House Music. Gifted and Talented Year 9 students are given the opportunity to achieve the Bronze Arts Award.
Edexcel GCSE, AS and A2 Music courses are also run at Claremont High School. Over the past two years the Music Department has achieved a 100% pass rate for GCSE Music.
Individual tuition is also offered to run alongside whole-class music teaching on the following instruments; flute, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, drum kit, violin, viola, cello, double bass, trumpet, trombone, voice, tabla, dhol, harmonium and piano.
