Claremont High School Academy

Do you want to build a show, man?

Claremont students learn what it takes to stage a hit musical

As the summer temperatures begin to rise, Claremont’s Drama Department is offering some relief by exploring a winter landscape… On 8th July, thirty students across the school took part in a musical theatre workshop based on hit West End show (and Disney film), Frozen. West End on Demand delivered the session, which was led by Lauren Chia, a former cast member and an experienced theatre performer. Together, Lauren and the participants explored a scene and song from the show, which culminated in a sharing of the work at school on 12th July.

Later that day, fifty lucky students from years 7 to 12 travelled into town for the Drama Department’s Annual West End Theatre Trip to see, what else, Frozen.

‘Tickets for this show are highly sought after,’ explained Mr Lipman, ‘and we were lucky to secure them to share the experience with our Claremont students. We were excited to see the spectacle, hear the familiar songs and embrace the frozen world!’

So if the sun doesn’t always shine this summer – let it go! There’s still plenty to enjoy at Claremont.
