Monty's Menus
At Claremont we believe that we play an important role in supporting the health and well-being of all of our students.
Monty's School Dining
Here at Claremont High School, we aim to provide students and staff with a variety of healthy, nutritious meals that taste as good as they look and form an essential part of a balanced diet.
We offer a selection of fresh, seasonal food prepared on site, featuring modern, ethnically diverse dishes that bring a contemporary twist to traditional school meals. Each of our menus runs for the entire term on a four-week rolling cycle, allowing pupils to enjoy a wide range of options across the term. All menus begin on Week 1 at the start of each half-term, making it easy for parents and carers to see what choices are available each day.
For September 2026, we have further enhanced our menu as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the health, wellbeing and readiness to learn of all our students. The revised menu has been developed in line with the latest proposed Department for Education school food standards and includes a greater emphasis on wholegrain and higher-fibre foods, increased fruit and vegetable provision, healthier cooking methods and a wider range of plant-based options. Alongside our daily salad selection, students will continue to enjoy a varied choice of hot meals, grab-and-go options and vegetarian dishes.
These developments place Claremont ahead of forthcoming national expectations and reflect our commitment to providing nutritious, balanced and appealing meals that support healthy lifestyles and positive learning outcomes. The Autumn 2026 menu can be viewed below.
Allergens
Our menus clearly outline any allergens contained in our dishes, and we make every effort to accommodate pupils’ individual dietary needs. Please note, however, that while we take great care, we cannot guarantee that our menus are completely allergen-free.
We do not allow nuts or nut-based products to be brought into school and take allergy awareness very seriously. However, as a large school environment, we are unable to guarantee that the site is completely nut-free. We therefore ensure that appropriate medical procedures, staff awareness and individual care plans are in place to support students with allergies.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding as we work together to provide high-quality, healthy meals for all our pupils.
Monty’s Payments
At Claremont High School, we want to ensure every pupil can enjoy the wide range of food and drink available at Monty’s in a fair and sustainable way.
We kindly ask that all pupils have sufficient credit on their catering account before purchasing food or drink. To help manage this responsibly, we carry out weekly balance checks and notify pupils where action may be needed.
If a pupil’s account falls into debt, snack purchases at first break may be temporarily paused until their balance is brought back into credit. This helps us to keep the catering service running smoothly and fairly for everyone.
In the case of ongoing or increasing debt, we may need to contact parents or carers directly to discuss how the balance can be cleared but it may be the case of non FSM pupils we have to advise that your child must bring in a packed lunch until their debt is settled.
Please rest assured that pupils entitled to Free School Meals (FSM) will always continue to receive their full lunchtime entitlement, regardless of account balance but in the case of any debt will not be able to buy any additional items outside of their entitlement. Details of their FSM entitlement are outlined below:
Pupils eligible for Free School Meals receive a daily allowance which fully covers our FSM meal deal. This allows each child to choose one main meal plus either a small drink or a dessert. While the full price list for all pupils is available on the school website, please note that the £2.70 offer for a meal deal is kept exclusively for FSM pupils to ensure they can always access a complete, nutritious lunch at no additional cost.
To meet current costs and the move towards the DfE expectations for healthier eating, our main meal price is increasing by 10p to £2.90 and our meal deal which includes a main meal and either a small drink or dessert is also increasing by 10p to £3.00. All other prices remains the same.
We run a no-debt system at Monty's so please ensure your child's account has an alert for low credit on it in order that they do not lose access to Monty's. Details on how to do this have been sent out to all parents but is also outlined again below:

Pupils without their photo ID will also be asked to wait until end of break or lunch before they can get their food in order that staff have time to check their identity - this is to ensure the safeguarding of all pupils' accounts.

To keep on top of debts, parents can set an alert on their ParentPay account and we recently sent home a letter detailing this.
Meat Free Mondays!
We have introduced ‘Meat Free Mondays’ as part of the national campaign to reduce meat consumption and help increase food security in the UK and in less economically developed countries.
Cultural Tasting Days:
As part of our commitment to celebrating diversity we host cultural days whereby pupils have an opportunity to try foods from a particular country. This focus enables us to help to continue to build our inclusive community and create opportunities for pupils to experience different cultures.
